Connecting Conversations

We are finally rolling out our training to the public! Connecting Conversations is a four-hour training to help people learn to talk to people they disagree with and still see the other person as a human being. It’s no secret that things are becoming more polarized than ever, especially politically. Dehumanizing language is being used more frequently which can lead to violence against the Other. But having conversations with people we vehemently disagree with can be very difficult, particularly when emotions are running high. The skills learned in this class are useful for all situations where difficult conversations must be had, not just with people who differ politically.

One of the core principles behind CGRE is that everyday people can help prevent mass atrocities by talking to and getting to know people they would not normally interact with. The skills learned in this class can help even if it’s a conversation with someone you do agree with. For now the training is in person, but we are working on providing the training remotely. If remote training is something you are interested in, please contact us at christi.yoder@genocideresearch.org.
